CONWY Borough’s prolific forward Corrig McGonigle has finished top of the Cymru North goal-scoring charts as the 2019/20 season comes to an abrupt end.

The 23-year-old from Llansadwrn on Anglesey racked up 24 league goals for The Tangerines to secure the Golden Boot during what was another fine season for both himself and the club in the second division.

Over the years, McGonigle has proven to be one of the best around, capturing the eyes of so many players, coaches and clubs during his rise to the second tier of Welsh football. His knack for scoring goals is incredible and it’s been my opinion for a number of years now that he’s destined to play Cymru Premier football someday.

It is quite incredible to think that, although he this was only his seventh season in senior football, the forward has already passed the 300-goal mark with a total of 345 to his name since he started playing in 2013/14.

His most prolific one came whilst at Pentraeth in 2015/16, where he hit 64 goal and secured the Bob Brodie Trophy (prize given to Anglesey’s top scorer annually by Dave Jones of Grassroots North Wales). He then secured that trophy again in the following season by hitting 57 in the Welsh Alliance with Glantraeth as the club secured promotion and a cup and title double.

McGonigle’s full record in senior football over the years is as follows:
2013/14: 33 at Llangoed (First year in senior football)
2014/15: 28 at Pentraeth
2015/16: 64 at Pentraeth – BOB BRODIE TROPHY WINNER
2016/17: 57 at Glantraeth – BOB BRODIE TROPHY WINNER
2017/18: 59 at Glantraeth
2018/19: 19 at Conwy Borough
2019/20: 24 at Conwy Borough

He’s a real joy to watch with such natural footballing talent and, at 23 years old, has so much more to give too. Congrats Corrig, the top scorer prize is thoroughly deserved for your efforts!
