THE blog itself was founded in 2015 by Arron Fon Evans (hence the AFE!).
What started out as a University project quickly became something that Arron loved doing (after all, he wanted to pursue a career in journalism) and he began writing more and more articles on the blog.
Having began by writing about Premier League, UEFA Champions League and international football news, attentions were turned to local football in 2017.
Since then, we have been working to establish a strong brand mainly dedicated to covering Anglesey football (but of course, we do go over the bridge from time to time too!).
Arron recently recruited two young writers to join the AFE team; Keane Webster and Tomos Wyn Jones. Both have a passion for writing about football and are hoping to go off to University to pursue a career in the industry in the near future.
Here’s a little bit about the three man team …
Arron Fon Evans
Founder and editor of AFEFootballNews
From: Brynteg, Anglesey
Supports: Arsenal (unfortunately!)
I founded the blog in 2015 and started focusing on local football (mainly the Anglesey League) in 2017.
Since then, I have been focusing on players, managers and clubs involved in grassroots both on the island and beyond.
it’s worth pointing out though that the blog is still very much a hobby at this moment in time. In my day job, I work as a full time newspaper reporter for the Denbighshire Free Press.
In the future, I hope to make AFEFootballNews a full time thing as my greatest passions in life are football and writing!

Tomos Wyn Jones
From: Llanfairpwll, Anglesey
I started to contribute to the AFE blog in May 2020 during the first lockdown. As someone who has an ambition to become a sport journalist, I believed it was an excellent opportunity to share my work and views on the game we all love.
Despite reporting on the 2019 Inter-Island Games Football Tournament here on Anglesey, where I gained valuable skills throughout the competition, I believed that to further improve my work and gain further experiences, contributing to the AFE blog would be of huge benefit to myself in my development of becoming a journalist.
In September 2020, I will be starting the Multimedia Sports Journalism course at UCFB in Manchester, and the experiences I’ve had writing for AFE have helped me to prepare better for the course.
If you have any stories or topics you would like me to cover, whether it would a player profile or an interview, please feel free to contact me.

I started contributing to AFE Football News back in May 2020, when I reviewed ‘The Past Decade of Welsh Football’. Through AFE Football News, I am improving and showcasing my work to the public as I dream to one day become a successful journalist, whether it’s sports or not.
I have been studying English Language and Literature over the past two years at Ysgol Uwchradd Bodedern. However, I knew that in order to make the dream of journalism a reality, I would need to put my work out to relevant audiences and the public eye. Therefore, AFE Football News seemed perfect, and the advice and support I have received from Arron since my first piece on the page has helped and improved me immensely.
After sixth form, I will be studying ‘Journalism and Media studies’ at either Sheffield or Bangor. As all the chances I receive to write about an event or something else are greatly appreciated, please feel free to contact me for any stories or article you many want doing.
