CEMAES Bay maintained their fine form to stretch their lead at the top of the North Wales Coast West Division One table.

Darren Thomas’ side enjoyed a fine 8-0 away win at Llangoed on Saturday afternoon (November 19).

First half goals from captain Keenan Downey (2) , top scorer Matt Reynolds, Taylor Jones and Cian Owen gave Bay a convincing 5-0 lead at the break at Tyddyn Paun.

Five subs were made throughout the second half and they paid off. Owen netted a stunning second before Carwyn Jones and Tom Wood came off the bench to complete the emphatic scoreline.

Cian Owen was at the double for Cemaes. PIC by Liam Owens.

That victory leaves Cemaes five points clear at the top – but other teams have quite a few games in hand.

Meanwhile, Llanystumdwy made it 10 league games unbeaten so far this season with a 4-4 draw at home v Llanfairpwll, who have themselves only lost one match.

Goals from Morgan Rowlands (8’), Rees Roberts (40’) and Cian Owen (48’) looked to have done the job for Pwll at Parc Dwyfor.

But an astonishing 13 minutes from Stumdwy saw them go 4-3 up thanks to goals from Aaron Jones (50’, 53’), Darren Parry (60’) and Arwyn Jones (63’).

But, a win wasn’t to be for the home side as a stoppage time penalty converted by Jay Finter ensured that the points were shared.

Bontnewydd maintained their charge towards the top of the table with another convincing win – this time beating a tough Cefni side 3-0.

The impressive Meilir Rowlands was first on the scoresheet as the 18-year-old netted what is his 7th goal in just 10 league appearances so far this season.

A goal from former Llanrug United midfielder Jake Calley-Thomas then made it 2-0 just before the break.

Captain Luke Phillips popped up with his 10th league goal of the season on 66mins to wrap up the three points for Bont at Cae Stanley.

Caergybi romped to a 5-1 victory over Bethesda Rovers who have now won just once of their last five league matches.

Chapman was back on the scoresheet with a brace off Caergybi.

The away side went 1-0 up early on through attacker Lewis Owen.

But Cybi fought back well with Steven Driedyk (30’, 44’) and James Ryan (38’) turning the tie on its head before half time.

Late goals from Louis Chapman (81’, 84’) completed the damage as Dale Moffat’s side picked up their first win in three league matches.

Finally, there was a much needed win for Mountain Rangers who beat Y Fali 2-1 away at Cae Mwd.

Rhys Jones put Rangers ahead via a Dion Griffiths assist on 34mins.

Czech substitute Jan Muller then extended their lead on 67mins before Dan Owen was sent off for Y Fali (82’).

Midfielder Adam Roberts then found a late consolation goal for the home side.

That victory was Alex Philp’s side’s second league win of the season to move them up to 11th place in the league table.
