AFE’s Stars of the 21/22 Season: Nathan Lewis (Cefni)

A MAN who has been quietly brilliant in the goalscoring department for a number of years now.

Cefni had a tough season of it in 21/22, finishing 13th out of 16 in North Wales Coast West Division One.

The club underwent many changes to the management and squad during the year and began to turn the tide towards the end of the season with some better results.

One man who was once again fantastic for them though was attacker Nathan Lewis.

Back in 2017/18, my first season of covering the Anglesey League, the 27-year-old was playing for Bryngwran Bulls and whilst there he scored 11 league goals and also scored a vital goal in the 2-1 win over Mynydd Tigers to secure the Dargie Cup for his side.

Then, in Cefni’s first season as a club in the Anglesey League in 2018/19, Lewis was the main man.

He went into the history books when he scored the club’s official first-ever goal in a match against Bodorgan and went on to finish as the club’s top scorer that campaign with 13 goals to his name. He finished that season by scoring in a shock 2-1 win over his former side, the Bulls, who won the league that year.

In 2019/20, Lewis went on to try his hand at higher league football with Caergybi, who had been promoted to the Gwynedd League after finishing as AL runners-up a season earlier. The forward finished the season, which was cut short by the Coronavirus pandemic, with four goals.

Fast forward to last season and the speedy forward finished that campaign with 13 goals in 21 league matches.

A great goalscorer who deserves some credit.
