TIER FIVE: Four in a row for Holyhead Town and late winner for Bont!

HOLYHEAD TOWN are a club on the up at the moment as they made it four wins in a row in the North Wales Coast West Division One on Saturday.

The Harbourmen had picked up two victories over local rivals Y Fali as well as a huge 2-1 win over Llanfairpwll ahead of their home clash v Mountain Rangers.

And Craig Brodie’s side went on to make it four victories on the trot when they beat Rangers 1-0 at Millbank on Saturday afternoon.

Mike Williams’ 21st minute strike – his second goal in as many matches since swapping Y Fali for Town – was the only difference between the two sides.

That win keeps Town in 12th place in the tier five table – 5pts clear of Cefni in 13th (although the latter do have three games in hand).

Elsewhere, Bontnewydd picked up a late, late 2-1 win over Cefni at Cae Stanley.

Bont attacker Cai Edwards put his side 1-0 up at the break. But Cefni came out fighting in the second half and were rewarded for their efforts just four minutes after the restart when midfielder Nik Kontodios equalised.

In a closely-fought affair, Alex Kalafusz showed nerves of steel to convert a 96th minute penalty to help secure a big 3pts for Bont.

Bodorgan’s good season continued with a 5-0 win over strugglers Y Fali who have now not won a game since July.

Bod, who are ninth in the table, went in front just before the break as top scorer Steven Jones netted his 12th goal of the season.

The second half proved to be one-way traffic as further goals from Connor Rees (46’, 87’), Jones again (77’) and a Luke Winter penalty (64’) ensured an emphatic win for the home team.

Meanwhile, Waunfawr impressed greatly as they hammered fellow Gwynedd-based club Llanystumdwy 6-0 away at Dwyfor Park.

The Beganifs’ top scorer Adam Lloyd Jones fired them in front just 8mins in before Jason Owen and Iwan Bohana made it 3-0 at half time.

Striker Lloyd Jones would prove to be the star of the show once more for Waunfawr as he scored a second half hat-trick (53’, 72’, 92’) to add to the goal he netted in the first half. He now has 19 goals in just 24 appearances in all competitions for the club in 21/22.

On Friday night’s March match under the lights, Cemaes Bay moved up to second place as they beat Caergybi 3-0 at School Lane.

In a close start to the match, the deadlock was broken on the half-hour mark when Bay top scorer Matt Reynolds netted from close range.

In the second half, midfielder Luke McKittrick came back to haunt his former club with a goal, before Cybi midfielder Tom Scott was dismissed for a poor challenge.

Another Reynolds goal following a mix-up at the back secured the win for Darren Thomas’ side who are still very much alive in the title race.
