THAT OLD cliche of ‘hard work pays off’ certainly rang true for one particular club this weekend as they picked up what was their first victory of the 2021/22 campaign.
Vinny Walker’s Gaerwen side moved off the bottom of the North Wales Coast West Premier table as they picked up an impressive 3-2 win over Pwllheli.
That was their first victory at the 20th attempt in the league this season and one which will no doubt be both a sense of relief and a further reason to push forward for the rest of the campaign now.
Things got off to a bad start for Gaerwen at Lôn Groes when an own goal from goalkeeper Callum Tipton put the visitors ahead on 22mins. The scoreline remained the same until half time.
But, it was an intense 6-minute period in the second half which would prove to be key to securing a massive 3 points for the home team.

Andy Nuttall, who came on from the bench in the first half scored on 52mins, before Dylan Williams put Gaerwen ahead 2 minutes later. Another goal from Nuttall on 58mins made it 3-1 and gave them a real glimmer of victory.
An Ifan Jones goal for Pwll four minutes from time set up a tense finale but Gaerwen saw the game out to claim an important victory.
Congratulations to all involved, let’s hope this is a turning point for you now!
