THE most impressive victories in local wins this weekend arguably went to Bethesda Athletic and Gwalchmai who both secured huge wins in their own right.
Mark Hughes’ young and determined Pesda side claimed a great 1-0 win over higher league opposition Llanberis.
The only goal of the game was assisted by Adrian Roberts and scored by Tomos Hughes , who has been in fine form in recent friendlies.
Managing to shut out their opponents was another feather in the cap of this well-run side who should cause problems in North Wales Coast West Division One from July 3 onwards.
Meanwhile, Gwalchmai put in a sensational performance at home to condemn Amlwch Town to a resounding 6-0 defeat.
Dion Owen was the hero on the day with a hat-trick, with Cameron Jones scoring a brace and Connor Owen adding the other goal in the game which proved Gwalchmai’s class ahead of playing tier four football in 21/22.
After the game, Gwalch manager Liam Ewing wrote: “Todays result speaks for itself. Absolutely faultless performance from the lads, dominant in and out of possession, showed massive heart, passion and togetherness and the will to win.
“I hope this result puts the rumours surrounding the club to rest. We ARE here to compete, we ARE here to win, we ARE GWALCHMAI FC and WE ARE GOING NOWHERE.”
Elsewhere on Saturday, Dale Moffat’s star-studded Caergybi side beat Bodorgan 4-1 at Millbank.
Cybi, who have signed the likes of Michael Edwards, Craig Moore, Tom Scott, Gary Jo Owen, Gwynfor Owen and more in the last few weeks, should be competing for everything when tier five kicks off next month.
But it was mainly some of the others who stood out for the club in this win over a side who will be in their league in the 21/23 campaign.
Scott was indeed on the scoresheet on the day but Jake Chapman (1) and Louis Chapman (2) added the other goals as Dale Moffat’s side continued to show their quality and squad depth.
Louis in particular has been in brilliant form in recent friendlies and looks as though he could be a consistent goal scorer for the club in tier five.
Holyhead Town were also brilliant as they too beat higher league opposition with a 2-0 victory over Glantraeth with a goal in either half from Aidan Batsford and Charlie Diamond.
Batsford had smashed in a free-kick very early on before the game was officially done and dusted just minutes from time when midfielder Diamond, picked out by Rob Thomas, beat his defender and finished brilliantly.
A Dylan Hughes strike and an own goal was enough to secure a 2-1 victory for Waunfawr at Nefyn United, whose goal was scored by Steve Jones.
Robert Jones, Jay Gibbs and Callum Parry were all on target as Holyhead Hotspur beat Penrhyndeudraeth at the New Stadium and Justin Gallagher’s Gaerwen side beat Llangoed 1-0 away thanks to a goal from 16-year-old Man of the Match Sion Jones.
Tier four favourites Bangor 1876 held tier two side Holywell Town to a 0-0 draw away and Pwllheli were 3-1 winners over Dolgellau thanks to a goal each from Lukas Baltovic, Steffan Toplis and Mark Jones.
Y Felinheli were 8-0 winners over Llanfairpwll, Fali were 3-1 winners at Pentraeth and Cemaes Bay claimed a 1-0 victory against Penmaenmawr Phoenix Reserves.
