EARLIER this week, the Tigers announced a fantastic signing in the form of the talented Callum Thomas.

Over the years, the winger has built a great reputation for himself whilst playing on the island – particularly with Bro Goronwy.

It was there that the player, affectionately know as ‘Speedy’ by now, would really begin to prove himself as one of the best around in his position.

2018/19 was a particularly memorable season for Thomas as he bagged 12 goals in 28 Gwynedd League matches and scored a fantastic goal in Bro’s 3-1 NWCFA Junior Cup final win over Bryngwran (now Trearddur Bay) Bulls.

During his time at Bro (since 2015), Thomas hit 38 goals in 115 Gwynedd League games (stats from Bro Goronwy’s website).

In 2019/20, the 22-year-old made the step up to Welsh Alliance One level with Bodedern Athletic.

And he would go on to continue to impress for the Green and White Army, scoring four goals in his debut campaign for the club before the coronavirus pandemic ended the season early.

Now, Thomas arrives at Menai Tigers where he will no doubt be a great addition to a side which will be chasing the North Wales Coast West Premier title in 21/22.

He’ll provide plenty of pace, skills, creativity and, most likely, goals from out wide.

Speaking on signing Thomas, Aaron Rowlands said: “We’ve been looking to sign Speedy since his successful days at Bro Goronwy. He’s a local lad who will slot straight into the squad; and is very good on the ball, has a great delivery and a keen eye for goal.”
