EVERYONE is considering the likes of Cemaes Bay, Llanerchymedd and Mountain Rangers as potential champions of North Wales Coast West Division One for the 21/22 campaign.
But, over the last week, Caergybi have also bolstered their ranks with some top class additions to place them among the contenders in tier five when football returns.
Manager Dale Moffat has confirmed the treble signing of Craig Moore, Tom Scott and Michael Edwards – three vastly experienced and highly talented individuals on the Anglesey footballing scene.
Attacker Moore, known as ‘Midge’, has been one of the most prolific goalscorers on the island over the last decade.
having previously banged goals in for the likes of Trearddur Bay United down the years, he rocked up at Bryngwran Bulls in 2018/19 firing in 61 goals as they finally clinched the Anglesey League title after years of going close. His pace and eye for goal that season in particular were incredible.
Last season, Moore finished as one of Tom Scott’s Hotspur Reserves side’s top scorers with 13 goals to his name in the Anglesey League and its cup competitions and also bagged three for the first team at the New Oval.
He later transferred back to the Bulls (now Trearddur Bay) who he had been so influential for in the season before. Upon his return to Richard Owen’s side, Moore scored a further six goals – taking his tally for the season to a respectful 22 goals for a season which he did not feature all that regularly in.
His manager at the Reserves, Scott will now be his team mate at Cybi after stepping down as player/manager of the Reserves just last week.
Having been involved with Hotspur for the last 23 years, he took over as Reserves manager ahead of the 19/20 campaign and guided the club to a great third placed finish in the Anglesey League. However, will now be looking forward to this new challenge with Moffat’s side. He’s a versatile player who can play in defence and midfield and offers great leadership – both on and off the field.
Last but not least in this talented trio is the fantastic Mike Edwards – who was also with Hotspur Reserves last season.
‘Eddie’, as he’s known. was an experienced head in the youthful side last season and was often untouchable in the middle of the park. Previously a full back, he has now transitioned effortlessly into a top class middle man who will no doubt benefit Cybi to no end.
Last season, Edwards ran the show for Hotspur Res and was one of the best, if not THE best midfielder in the division, also scoring eight goals as the club also reached the Dargie Cup final – where they would have played Cemaes Bay had the pandemic not called the season off early.
A former Tranmere Rovers youth player , Edwards has enjoyed great success with the likes of Hotspur’s first team and Holyhead Town in the past.
Add these three to the fantastic squad that Cybi already have under Dale Moffat and you have yourself a very talented side who should cause all sorts of problems for their tier five opponents in 21/22.
