AFE’s Stars of the 2019/20 Season: Richie Foulkes (Flint Town United)

CLUB CAPTAIN who has been with Flint since the 2016/17 season and has always been a standout player in the side.

Foulkes, usually deployed in the attacking midfield role, was instrumental as the Silkmen finished as runners-up in the JD Cymru North last season.

And top performances from the player and the club paid dividends in the end as Niall McGuinness’ side were eventually promoted to the JD Cymru Premier in place of champions Prestatyn Town, who had finished the season sixteen points clear at the top but couldn’t secure a top-flight permit due to ground criteria.

The 15 goals Foulkes scored in 29 appearances last season took his tally up to 52 goals in 123 matches for the club, which is a fantastic record for a midfielder plying his trade in the second division of North Wales football. He also provided 6 assists and put in two Man of the Match displays for Flint in 2019/20 and was unsurprisingly included in the JD Cymru North Team of the Season for his efforts.

And Foulkes, a former Chester, Cammel Laird and Neston Nomads player, has maintained top form during the 2020/21 campaign in Wales’ top-flight with Flint too – notching up four goals in 15 matches.

The 35-year-old is a firm fans favourite at the club by now and it’s not difficult to see why with his consistently brilliant displays out on the field.
