AFE’s Stars of the 2019/20 season: Jake Eyre (Gresford Athletic)

A REAL key player for a Gresford side that finished 11th in the JD Cymru North last season.

In fact, Eyre (in red above) was one of the standout players in tier two as a whole as he picked up 19 goals in 32 appearances in all competitions for the club. That earned the former Denbigh Town and Rhyl attacker Gresford’s top scorer and Players Player of the Season prizes come the end of the season.

Steve Halliwell’s side may have had an inconsistent season itself but Eyre was superb throughout and put in several Man of the Match performances for his club.

Unfortunately for Gresford though that meant that interest in the former Sheffield United and Everton youth player was great and he eventually departed for fellow tier two club Airbus UK Broughton, who he also previously played for, last summer.

A brilliant player who should be a great signing for the Wingmakers when football returns.
