AFE’s Stars of the 2019/20 season: Mark Thomas (Cefni/Llangoed)

THERE aren’t many people who stood out off the pitch as well as on it last season. That’s why I thought this man certainly deserved a mention!

Attacker Thomas, aka ‘Cabbage’, is a former Welsh Premier League who represented Caernarfon Town and also played for the great Glantraeth side in the Cymru Alliance between 2004 and 2006.

Last season, a 41-year-old Thomas started off the season as player-manager at Cefni and, despite leaving the club in November 2019, he ended up as one of its top scorers come the end of the season with five goals to his name.

He then departed for Gwynedd League side Llangoed where he became manager of the club and made a huge impact from the touchline. Results improved drastically for the club and they went on to finish 8th in a very tough division.

But despite that, Thomas has very recently departed Tyddyn Paun. It has to be said though, he left his MARK at both Cefni and Llangoed last season and I’m sure he’ll make a big impact wherever he goes next.
