FORMER Welsh Prem players such as the likes of Les Davies and club captain Michael Johnston may have been the talk of the town (or city in this case at Bangor 1876 last season – but there were also plenty of local young talents on show too!
Cian Williams was undoubtedly one of the best of those and proved to be one of the best defenders in the Gwynedd League too.
Playing alongside the experience Johnston at centre back, 18-year-old Williams put in some fantastic performances along the way and became a real defensive rock. The pair built a strong partnership as 1876 conceded just nine goals in their 16 league matches.
But as well as that, Williams was also an attacking threat in what was a very free-scoring 1876 side. The defender scored nine goals in all competitions.
A Welsh Colleges under 19’s player, Williams was also previously a Wrexham academy player and is regarded by many, including myself, as one of the best up and coming talents in North Wales football right now. He thoroughly deserved his place in my GL Team of the Season for 2019/20 and i look forward to following his progress in the game in years to come!
