Anglesey League: Each club’s top scorer so far

ARRIVA BANGOR

No surprise to anyone to learn that Arriva’s star man is once again the prolific Scott Hughes. The lively forward is already on 27 goals for the 2019/20 season and has looked in inspiring form for Kevin Jones’ side.

Currently sat at the top of the pile but having never won the top scorer prize in the Anglesey League before, could this finally be the year he does so?

Second top scorer is winger Dion Williams who has hit a total of eight goals – four in the league and four in the cup.

BODORGAN

Again no surprises here as Luke Allaway leads the race at Bod with 12 goals. The tall forward has hit more than 50 goals for the club during the last two seasons and has been their main contributor of goals for several seasons.

He’s not as far ahead of the pack as he has been in the past however, as they seem to be sharing the goalscoring burden this season with Aaron Jones hitting seven and Ioan Thomas on six.

CEFNI

Mark Thomas is the Llangefni-based club’s official top scorer on five but he recently departed to take over as manager of Gwynedd League side Llangoed.

Therefore, there current leading goal scorers are midfielders Lee Lewis and Andrew ‘Sbuggy’ Jones (above) who have both hit three goals each.

Fellow midfielder Ben Wright and rapid winger Macauley Lewis are just behind them on two each.

CEMAES BAY

It’s Steven Whittaker AKA ‘Tyco’ who has contributed the most for The Bay at the midway point. 16 league goals and five in the cups, puts the experienced forward on 21 for the season.

Behind him are fellow forward Andy Williams on 15 goals and midfielder and club captain Keenan Downey, who is on eight.

HOLYHEAD HOTSPUR RESERVES

Last season, it was young winger Casey Gregg who lead the way for The Reserves (14 goals) and whilst he has already hit six during 2019/20, it’s Curt Williams who is the club’s current leading scorer with eight goals.

The forward, who returned from a serious injury recently, has been in great form for Tom Scott’s side, which once again features a good balance of youth and experience this season.

Craig Moore, who was top scorer for league champions Bryngwran Bulls last season with 60 goals is on five for Hotspur Reserves this season, having not made many appearances.

HOLYHEAD TOWN RESERVES

One of three new clubs to join the Anglesey League during the summer, Town’s top scorer at the moment is Luke Miles on five goals.

The midfielder has been a standout star at the club – with his finest moment coming via a Man of the Match performance and wonder goal in the club’s 7-6 win over Bodorgan last month.

Behind him is Liam Owens after his three goals early on the season.

LLANDEGFAN

Front-runner at Llandeg is Paul Jones, who has five goals to his name so far.

Having arrived from fellow AL side Cefni back in January, the forward has hit a total of 10 goals since in a side that has often struggled to score.

Second top scorer is young midfielder Robert Boyes – who has already matched the tally of three goals he had for the whole of last season.

LLANFAIRPWLL

Vinny Walker and Spud Thomas’ young side have been a joy to watch at times this season and goals have come from everywhere on the pitch.

Leading scorer at the moment is 16-year-old wonderkid Tom Zalot – who has bagged eight since making the move from Llangoed in the summer.

Hot on his heels is fellow summer signing Elliot Jones, who arrived from Llandegfan, and has bagged seven to date. Behind them is central midfielder Cai Evans on five goals.

MOUNTAIN RANGERS

Another new club in the division this season, The Rangers are currently the only unbeaten team in the league.

The man who’s impressed the most is top scorer Sam Williams – who’s hit an impressive 19 goals so far this term.

Another one who’s also caught the eye form the heart of the midfielder is club captain Simon Kay, who’s scored nine.

PENTRAETH RESERVES

Leading scorer for Danny Jones and Paul Matier’s side at the moment is Lewis Owen.

The forward, who has also played for the first team, has netted five this season including a memorable hat-trick against Llandegfan.

Just behind him is last season’s top scorer with 21 goals Kenny Williams, who has four so far this season.

VALLEY

Casey Boylan was the club’s top scorer with 11 goals before the midfielder decided to return to Welsh Alliance One side Bodedern Athletic a few weeks ago.

And with Jerome Sillence (8 goals) having gone to join the marines, it’s midfielder Tudur Williams who is the current active top scorer with eight to his name.

Behind him is versatile player Paul Williams who has four goals so far.
